    Did you know there are certain essential oils that can aid your romantic future? There are certain essential oils that can trigger romantic responses in the opposite sex. It is even rumored that there are essential oils out there that are aphrodisiacs.

    Essential oils are those little bottles you find in health food and specialty stores. They are harvested from various plants from around the world. Each has unique properties about them. Some essential oils can be used to boast your immune system, while others can be help to lessen cold and flu symptoms. Essential oils can also be used to set the romantic mood.

    Patchouli is known for its romantic and sensual benefits. It is found in Indonesia. Patchouli is a very woody, floral scent. It was very popular in the 60s, so it is associated with things such as Woodstock. It is the rare scent that actually improves with age. It is also the scent that is said you either love or hate. Make sure that your intended partner is on the right side of the balance.

    Ylang Ylang is a flower blossom essential oil from Madagascar or the Comoro Islands. It has a very intense floral scent. It is thought of as exotic and romantic. It also has a very soothing quality as well. Ylang Ylang is for anyone who likes the intense floral scents.

    Sensual Sandalwood is also known for its romantic properties. It is highly prized essential oil from Western Australia. It has a relaxing property as well. This may well be another great benefit in your romantic life. Sandalwood is a strong base note, so it can be mixed with many different essential oils as well.

    How would a discussion on romantic essential oils be complete without mention of Rose Absolute? Rose has a very long history of creating exotic, romantic blends. It is known for its sensual, romantic and uplifting properties.

    Now you have a list of four great essential oils that work well in romantic atmospheres, but how do you use them? There are a few different ways to infuse your room with essential oils.

    Essential oil burners are available. You can usually purchase these where you purchase your essential oils. A tea light goes in the base and gently heats the top. There is a well in the top where you can place a few drops of essential oil. When heated, essential oils readily disperse into the air.

    Linen sprays can also be used. A basic recipe linen spray can be made with 1/4 cup distilled water, 1/4 cup vodka and your 4 to 5 drops essential oil. Vodka is use because it is an alcohol with no scent. While it will preserve your spray, it will not add anything to it. You can spray this on sheets or pillows to scent them. Be sure to test on an inconspicuous place before applying.

    Massage oils can be made as well. Adding your chosen essential oil or blend to an unscented massage oil can be very romantic. Choose a warm room and cover a hard surface with a towel for the massage surface. Experiment with different essential oils and blends as well as different massage strokes and techniques.

    Simple things can be used to add aromatherapy to your romantic life. It could be as simple as adding a drop to a light bulb, adding several drops to a log that will be burned in the fireplace, purchasing a candle in the essential oil that you like, or putting a dab behind your ear to wear as a perfume.

    Essential oils can help you set that romantic mood. With a bit of essential oil, your imagination, and the love of your life, you can enjoy a romantic evening whenever the mood strikes you. Essential oils are all-natural and have been used for centuries for this and many other things. Learn to use and enjoy them.

    Creating essential oils blends to use in your daily life is easy once you are aware of the oil properties. The best thing about creating essential oil blends is that it is possible to tailor them to your particular needs, and when these change, you can easily create more blends.

    To find out about the properties of oils, invest in a good aromatherapy book or use the internet to source the information. Essential oils on their own are great, and there’s no reason not to use just one, however, by creating essential oil blends, you increase the power of the oils, and they work together, providing greater health benefits (and a more potent aroma).

    Creating essential oil blends doesn’t need to be limited to health conditions either. Blend you favorite oils to make unique perfumes and body products that you can either use yourself, giving you an extra lift, or make as gifts for family and friends.

    There is no limit to what you can do when creating essential oil blends. The first time you try creating essential oil blends, you may way to test the way the oils will work when they are put together. Simply dip a cotton swab in each of the products you are thinking of using. Place the swabs in a glass jar, and seal them for several hours. Then open the jar and smell the blend. This is fairly close to the scent that will be produced, even if used with other products (assuming they are non-scented).

    There is no right or wrong way of creating essential oil blends. While hundreds, if not thousands, of recipes already exist, a large part of aromatherapy is based on your own likes and dislikes. If one combination does not scintillate your senses, then substitute one flavor for one that is more pleasant.

    You can find recipes on the internet, and in a good aromatherapy book, for creating essential oil blends. Advice on which products work best together, and the individual properties of each product are also usually listed. This doesn’t mean that you can’t be creative and try creating your own essential oil blends though, so treat these sources as a place to start from.

    Use your instincts when creating essential oil blends. If something doesn’t smell right, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s wrong, it’s just wrong for in this particular case. Experimenting with different blends is half the fun of aromatherapy. As long as you use therapeutic grade oils when creating essential oil blends, then whatever oils are decided upon should be quite fine.

    Aromatherapy is the use of ft essential oils from plants to enhance general health and appearance. The term was coined by its originator, the French chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse.

    Aromatherapy is used for a wide variety of problems, ranging from anxiety and insomnia to acne, cellulite (fatty deposits beneath the skin), and aging skin.

    The Benefits of Aromatherapy

    Each essential oil has its own characteristic aroma and profile of therapeutic properties. Some oils are soothing and relaxing, others are stimulating and invigorating. Certain fragrances have an effect on a user’s mental state: jasmine and neroli may lift depression, marjoram soothes anxiety, and peppermint can enhance mental concentration. But an even greater number of essential oils are physically therapeutic and possess antibacterial, antiseptic, or anti-inflammatory properties. These can be highly effective in relieving the symptoms of such common infections as colds and influenza.

    How to Use Essential Oils

    There are several ways to use essential oils to reap the full benefits of aromatherapy. Choose those oils with the properties that are most suited to the effect desired, and use them either singly or in combinations of no more than two or three at a time.

    On the skin essential oils are highly concentrated: always mix an essential oil with, carrier oil before applying it to the skin. Add one to three drops of essential oil to a teaspoonful of a vegetable oil such as almond, soybean grapeseed, avocado, or whea germ oil. Store larger quantities of unused oil in a bottle made of tinted glass and keel in a cool place. Apply the mixture directly onto the skin, rubbing it in gently.

    Alternatively, use the aromatherapy oil in place of an ordinary massage oil.

    To benefit directly from the aroma of an essential oil, add, few drops to a bowl of steaming hot water and position the bowl near enough for you to be able to inhale the vapor. Inexpensive vaporizers are also available.

    Alternatively, place a few drops of essential oil onto a ball of dampened absorbent cotton and put the ball on a hot radiator. Another option is to put a few drops of essential oil into an atomizer of the type used to spray indoor plants (five drops to 1 cup/250ml of water) and spray around the room. This will freshen up stuffy rooms, creating an atmosphere conducive to study or to relaxation at home, or potentially keeping minor infections at bay in an office.

    In the bath add five to ten drops of essential oils as the hot water is running. The benefits come from inhaling their vapors as well as absorbing the oils themselves through the skin.

    Special Note Essential oils are obviously highly concentrated: applied directly to the skin they may sting or cause irritation. Before using an essential oil for the first time - especially if there is a personal history of allergic reactivity - a skin test under the supervision of a clinical ecologist or other qualified practitioner is strongly recommended. You should never swallow essential oils except when directed to do so by a practitioner who is skilled in the internal medical use of oils. In some countries, essential oils that are to be taken internally in this way are available only on prescription from a physician. On the other hand, herbal decoctions and infusions (tisanes and teas) are readily and generally available.
